A customer makes large flywheels for diesel generator sets (gensets) and being a flywheel they need to run concentric and true so they do not vibrate.

A steel structure with a large mass was designed and manufactured. To this a precision ground chuck was mounted.

The chuck was bespoke to the components it was to test. High repeatability was required. The chuck was hardened throughout and ground and wire-eroded to ensure concentricity was achieved. It was powered by a simple pneumatic cylinder.

The whole project was completed within budget which led to a happy customer with future projects for Incotech to undertake.
